59% Zimbabweans have a mobile phone
A new report has revealed that 59 out of every 100 Zimbabweans had subscribed to a mobile phone by the end of last year.

Handset sales in Kenya up by 200%
A new report has revealed that mobile handset sales in Kenya have risen by 200% since the Kenyan Government chose to slash the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) levied on mobile handset sales in 2009. Mobile phones are seeing a surge in popularity in Africa. Telephone landlines are slow to roll out across rural Africa, leaving difficult to access areas without fixed phone lines and internet access. Mobile towers solve the problem, by making mobile phones accessible. According to the Guardian, in the Democratic Republic of Congo there are only 10,000 fixed-line telephones, but more than 8 million mobile subscribers. (more…)
